My "Kakum"!

I don't know why, but my strongest memory (and the one which warrants maximum admiration) is one when I had mumps. Apparently I had to be fed some sort of medicine every 4 hours. No problem in the morning afternoon or evening. But I can be a total grouchy bear (yes still, ask Mukund) if woken up in the middle of the night. And when I was younger, I actually kicked. I remember night after night of Kakum getting kicked (I had no clue who or what, I kicked if anyone disturbed my sleep), waiting for me to open my eyes and smile sheepishly, THEN pick up the bottle of whatever it was, give me a teaspoonful, and then start to tell me a story till I zonked back off.
That's it. I can't explain why this was so superspecial to me, and still is, but maybe you will understand!

She never winced, never gave up in spite of the kicks. Just anticipated it and put the bottle down. Every kid wants to be loved for "in spite of everything that I do", I get she gave me that satisfaction.
